How to Prepare Your New Floor:
- If we are to take up any existing floor covering, please ensure that it is clean and
free of any debris.
- If your furniture is to be moved, you will want to remove and separately store any breakables.
- Disconnect and remove any electronics such as computers, televisions and stereo equipment.
- You may want to take down any hanging objects (photos, paintings, etc…) from
the wall as installation vibrations may cause these to fall.
- Remove items from the floor in small rooms such as closets and pantries.
- Harris Floor Covering is not responsible for damage to items in or around the
area in which new flooring is to be installed.
- When possible, be at home. Harris Floor Covering requires that an adult able to
make spot decisions be on-site (due to the nature of installation work) unless
alternative arrangements are made in advance.
- Show our installers any hidden/obscured wiring (phone lines, security, surround
sound, etc…) so that they don’t cut or damage them by accident.
- Have any toilets or on-floor plumbing (e.g., pedestal sinks) removed from
bathrooms. Due to the volatile nature of plumbing, Harris Floor Covering does
not remove or reinstall these items.
